10 Ways to Keep Your Kids from Getting Fat page.11
On the authority of Abu 'Abd al-Rahman 'Abdullah bin 'Umar bin al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with them), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon Him), say:
"Islam has been built upon five things - on testifying that there is no god save Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger; on performing salah; on giving the zakah; on Hajj to the House; and on fasting during Ramadan."[Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
"I testify that there are none worthy of worship except Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."
There are seven conditions of the Shahada, without which it is considered to be meaningless!
Al-`Ilm: Knowledge of the meaning of the Shahada, its negation and affirmation.
Al-Yaqeen: Certainty – perfect knowledge of it that counteracts suspicion and doubt.
Al-Ikhlaas: Sincerity which negates shirk.
Al-Sidq: Truthfulness that permits neither falsehood nor hypocrisy.
Al-Mahabbah: Love of the Shahada and its meaning, and being happy with it.
Al-Inqiad: Submission to its rightful requirements, which are the duties that must be performed with sincerity to God (alone) seeking His pleasure.
Al-Qubool: Acceptance that contradicts rejection.

Meaning of the Shahadatan (testimony of faith)
By Dr. Salah As Salah (Allah have mercy on Him)
THERE IS NO TRUE GOD BUT Allaah AND MUHAMMAD IS ALLAAH'S MESSENGER
ASH-SHADATAN is the declaration that represents the belief in the oneness of Allaah (Tawheed). It is composed of negation and confirmation phrases. The phrase "There is no true god…" negates all false deities, while the phrase "but Allaah", confirms that Allaah is the only True God worthy of being worshipped.
Allaah is All-just and All-wise. He creates us and wants us to know him and worship him alone. The submission of man to his creator, Allaah, is the essence of Tawhid. When someone submits to Allaah, he must negate and disassociate from any worship to anyone (or anything) other than Allaah. This is the purity of worship and it is all embedded in the declaration of Ash-Shahadatan. This declaration is the key to Al Jannah (Paradise). The conditions that fulfil the declaration of Ash-Shahadatan are like the "teeth" that allow the key to function. These conditions are:
#1 KNOWLEDGE: about whom we are worshipping and about the nature, concepts, and methodology of worship is critical for understanding Islam. Knowledge in Islam calls for complete disassociation from false deities and for the purification of intentions:
"So know that La ilaha illal’lah (none has the right to be worshiped except Allaah) and ask forgiveness for your sins…" (Qur’an 47:19)
The prophet (peace be upon Him) said: "He who died knowing (full well) that there is no true God worthy of being worshipped except Allaah, entered Al Jannah. (Sahih Muslim)
#2 SATISFACTION: The declaration must be made without any suspicion regarding its meaning. Allaah says: { Only those are the believers who have believed in Allaah and his messenger and never since doubted.} (Qur’an 49:15)
The Prophet (peace be upon Him)
"I bear witness that La illah illal’lah, (There is no God but Allaah) and I am his Messenger. The slave of Allaah who would meet him without harboring any doubts about this (Ash-Shahadatan) would enter Al Jannah." (Sahih Muslim)
#3 PURITY: The intention behind the performance of any kind of islamically prescribed Worship must be purely devoted to Allaah:
Say (O Muhammad): {"Verily I am commanded to worship Allaah (Alone) {by obeying Him and doing religious deeds sincerely for Allah’s sake, not show off, and not to set up rivals with Allaah in worship}.(Qur’an 39:1)
#4 HONESTY: Paves the way for meaningful understandings of Tawheed and strengthens the drive towards achieving knowledge about Allaah. The hypocrite utters Ash Shahadatan, but conceals rejection in his heart:
{They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts.} (Qur’an 48:11)
The prophet (peace be upon Him) said: "There is none who testifies sincerely (from his heart) that there is no God worthy of being worshipped except Allaah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, except that Allaah will save him from the hell-fire." (Sahih Muslim and Bukhari)
#5 ACCEPTANCE: Adherence to the meaning of Ash-Shadatan safeguards the believer from false and arrogance which Allaah forbade:
"Truly, when it was said to them: La illaha illal’lah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah), they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied)." (Qur’an 37:35)
La illaha illal’lah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah), they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied)." (Qur’an 37:35)
#6 SUBMISSION: Is fulfilled by obedience to Allaah and his Messenger (peace be upon Him)
"Whoever submits his face (himself) to Allaah (follows Islam), while he is doing good (obeys Allaah and his messenger in all aspects) has grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold." (Qur’an 31:22)
#7 LOVE OF AllAAH AND HIS MESSENGER: The declaration of Ash-Shahadatan requires that the person loves Allaah and his Messenger (peace b upon Him) more than anything else, and loves what Allaah and his messenger love, and hates or dislikes what Allaah and his Messenger hate or dislike (what negatively affects the person’s attachment to Islam)
"And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allaah as rivals (And’daad) (to Allaah). They love them as they love Allaah. But those who believe love Allaah more (than all else)." (Qur’an 2:165)
The prophet (peace be upon Him) said:
"Whoever possesses (the following) of three qualities will relish the sweetness (delight) of Eemaan (Faith): The one to whom Allaah and his messenger (peace be upon Him) becomes dearer than anything else: that he loves a person for Allaah Alone (i.e. purely seeking Allaah and his pleasure); that he hates to revert to Kufr (disbelief) after Allaah has rescued him from it as he hates to be thrown in hell." (Sahih Muslim & Bukhari)
The love of Allaah and his messenger must translate to a real following of the commands of Allaah and that of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him). This negates the following of any innovator who introduces concepts/ways that are not in accordance with Islamic teachings: like the mystics of Sufism and their so-called Tareeqahs (ways) which has nothing to do with Islam. Their thoughts originated from Hindu concepts.
MUHAMMAD IS ALLAAH’S MESSENGER
This is the second part of the declaration of Ash-Shahadatan. This means that:
A. Whatever Allaah had told us about Muhammad (peace be upon Him)
must be true: "O prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him) Verily, We have sent you as a witness, and a bearer of glad tidings and a Warner, And as one who invites to Allaah (i.e., to worship none but Allaah) by his leave, and as a lamp spread light." (Qur’an 33:45-46)
B. We must worship Allaah as taught by Muhammad (peace be upon Him): This clear order from Allaah:
"And whatsoever the Messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon Him) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it) and Fear Allaah. Verily Allaah is severe in punishment." (Qur’an 59:7)
"And whatsoever the Messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon Him) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it) and Fear Allaah. Verily Allaah is severe in punishment." (Qur’an 59:7)
The rulings, orders, disciplines, advice, recommendations, approvals, actions, and orders as they are related to Islam, are know as the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon Him). The authentically related Sunnah is inspired by Allaah
{Nor does he (Muhammad) speak of (his own) desire. It is only an Inspiration that is inspired.} (Qur’an 53:3-4)
The Principles of Healing
From Traditional Medicine by Ibn Qayyim
Muslim narrated in his Sahih that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon Him) said
Every disease has a cure. Knowing the right medicine will cure the disease by Allah’s leave. In the masnad of Imam Ahmed he narrated that Usama bin Sharik reported that he was present when a group of Arabs came to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon Him) and asked: “O Messenger of Allah, should we use medicine?” He replied: Indeed, O servants of Allah; use medicine. For indeed every ailment Allah created he also created a cure except one. One who acquires such knowledge will benefit from it, and one who ignores it will forgo such benefits.” The Arabs asked: “which is the one which has no cure?” He replied “Old age.”
Also in the musanad of Imam Ahmed it is related that Ibn Khuzama asked the messenger of Allah: O Messenger of Allah you see all the amulets (ruqa) we carry, prayers we recite, medicine we take, and other preventive routines we use we use for removing illness-do any of them obstruct Allah’s decree? Allah’s messenger (peace be upon Him) replied: “They are part of Allah’s decree”
Such Narrations of Prophetic traditions (ahadith) acknowledge the science of cause and effect, and refute opinions of those who deny them. Allah Messenger’s (peace be upon Him) statement attributing a cure for every
disease is a general rule that encourages people to research and understand the medicinal properties needed to cure there illnesses. His saying even goes to the extent of encouraging research of the potency of remedies which if taken withought physicians supervision may kill. Such constant research and trials also will demonstrate physician’s dependence on what Allah Almighty has created, and will expand physician’s horizons. In fact, only Allah can cure an illness, and people’s knowledge is only limited to what He makes available to there level of understanding. This will explain the Prophets comment …”Knowledge the right medicine will cure the disease by the permission of Allah”. For everything Allah created He also created its opposite, and for every disease He wrote, He also created a particular cure. The aforementioned “right
medicine” also means the proper dosage, for should the medicine exceed it’s required potency, or if taken in large quantities, it will add additional health complications and in other words, yield a new illness. However, when the medicine is deficient, or if the dosage is insufficient the treatment will fail.
Ibn Qayyim continues on to say, if one sits back and depends solely on the hand of destiny to come and feed him, quench his thirst, cool his fever and warm-up his body, he will certainly die from hunger, thirst, fever and chill. Thus illness must be met with its antitype, and viruses must be met with there cure, though the propeller, the propelled and the power behind them, all come from Allah.
Hence we say to the questioner who believes solely in reliance on faith healing:”If you apply the same principle in everything concerning your life and livelihood, you will produce nothing, bring your self no benefits or ward off no harm, since you believe that what will happen will take place anyways, and should it not be destined, it will not take effect anyhow!”
Such attitude will bring about social disorder and eventually destroy ones faith and bring his existence to contrition and
remorse. Only an arrogant and obstinate person will pursue
such contention as was shown in the argument of the polytheists When they said: {Had Allah willed it otherwise, neither we nor our fathers would have worshiped anyone besides Him}(6:148) They used this contention to argue
agenst Allah’s clear signs and message which was the proof of their guilt.
There is a third point we wish to bring forth herein: Allah has created and decreed a chain of consequential occurrences. If the first manifests, the second will occur, and if the third manifests the fourth will occur and so forth. Hence if you produce the cause the effect will occur; otherwise it will not. The questioner may further argue: “but if it were not my destiny, I would not have done it!” the answer is: would you accept this argument from your own child
if they disobeyed your command?
If you do then never blame anyone who disobeys you, or swindles you money, or casts slanderous insults against your family, or abuses your rights. Otherwise if you do oppose them then why would you not seek the betterment pf Allah’s decree? And obey his commands, to wash away and purify you with His further decree of repentance from commenting what he forbids?
The Risks of Vaccinations
The Safety Review of Thimerosal-containing Vaccines and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Conducted by the Institute of Medicine
In 2001, the Institute of Medicine convened a committee (the Immunization Safety Review Committee) to review selected issues related to immunization safety. [For more information regarding this committee, their charge, and their reports, see the IOM web site.] The IOM has, to date, completed reviews in two areas. The first review by this committee focused on a potential link between autism and the combined mumps, measles, and rubella vaccine. The second review focused on a potential relationship between thimerosal use in vaccines and neurodevelopmental disorders (IOM 2001). This latter issue was brought to the fore
primarily as the result of thehypothesis, formulated by S. Bernard and others from Cure Autism Now, that autism is a novel form of mercury poisoning (Bernard et al. 2001); this hypothesis, linking autism to mercury, was based on a comprehensive review of the scientific literature on mercury toxicity. In its report
of October 1, 2001, the IOM's Immunization Safety Review Committee concluded that the evidence was inadequate to either accept or reject a causal relationship between thimerosal exposure from childhood vaccines and the neurodevelopmental disorders of autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and speech or language delay. Additional studies were needed to establish or reject a causal relationship. The Committee did conclude that the hypothesis that exposure to thimerosal-containing vaccines could be associated with neurodevelopmental disorders was biologically plausible.
The Committee believed that the effort to remove thimerosal from vaccines was "a prudent measure in support of the
public health goal to reduce mercury exposure of infants
and children as much as possible." Furthermore, in this regard, the Committee urged that "full consideration be given to removing thimerosal from any biological product to which infants, children, and pregnant women are exposed."
In 2004, the IOM's Immunization Safety Review Committee issued its final report, examining the
hypothesis that vaccines, specifically the MMR vaccines
and thimerosal containing vaccines, are causally associated with autism. In this report, the committee incorporated new epidemiological evidence from the U.S., Denmark, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, and studies of biologic mechanisms related to vaccines and autism since its report in 2001. The committee concluded that this body of evidence favors rejection of a causal relationship between thimerosal-containing vaccines and autism, and that hypotheses generated to date concerning a biological mechanism for such causalityare theoretical only. Further, the committee stated that the benefits of vaccination are proven and the hypothesis of susceptible populations is presently speculative, and that widespread rejection of vaccines would lead to increases in incidences of serious infectious diseases like measles, whooping cough and Hib bacterial meningitis.
The FDA is continuing its efforts to reduce the exposure of infants, children, and pregnant women to mercury from various sources. Discussions with the manufacturers of influenza
virus vaccines (which are now routinely recommended for pregnant women and children 6-23 months of age) regarding their capacity to potentially increase the supply of thimerosal-reduced and thimerosal-free presentations are ongoing. Discussions are also underway with regard to other vaccines.
Of note, all hepatitis B vaccines for the U.S., including for adults, are now available only as thimerosal-free or trace-thimerosal-containing formulations.
In addition, all immune globulin preparations including hepatitis B immune globulin, and Rho (D) immune globulin preparations are manufactured without thimerosal

Ibn Mas’ood–(radiyallaahu 'anhu) would advise his students, "If your intention is one of these three, do not seek knowledge: To shame the ignorant, or to argue with the Fuqahaa' (scholars), or to cause people to turn their faces in your direction. Intend with your actions and words that which is with Allaah, for indeed that which is with Allaah shall remain and everything else shall perish."
Ibnul Qayyim – said,
"Deeds without sincerity are like a traveller who carries in his water-jug dirt. The carrying of it burdens him and it brings no benefit."

10 Ways to Keep Your Kids from Getting Fat
A recent study in the Journal of the Academy of Pediatrics has found that being overweight can cause girls to hit puberty earlier than normal. And while nobody wants to see their kids grow up too fast, there is actually serious health concerns related to starting puberty too early.
nutrionist here are some simple suggestions for what parents can do to make sure their children don't become overweight or help them lose the weight if they already are.
1. Be a healthy role model Monkey see, monkey do. As your children grow they observe and copy everything you do 'eating habits included.
2. Make healthy eating fun Play games, create sticker charts, conduct taste tests, and invite your kids into the kitchen to cook. Anything goes ' just connect healthy eating/exercise with fun.
3. " Create a positive attitude about food by emphasizing healthy choices and limiting (not eliminating) the not-so-healthy cakes, cookies, and candy. That means 90 percent Healthy and 10 percent Fun.
4. Encourage a smart breakfast Breakfast helps serve as an appetite regulator throughout the rest of the day. Studies also show that kids who eat breakfast have better attention and focus in the morning.
5. Switch to nonfat and low-fat dairy Kids need calcium, but not the fat and calories from whole milk dairy. After your child turns two, switch to skim milk, 1 percent reduced-fat milk, part skim string cheese, fat-free/low-fat sliced cheese and yogurt.
6. Load them up with fiber Encourage your kids to load up on fiber-rich foods, including vegetables, fruit, beans, lentils and whole grains. Insoluble fiber takes a longer time to chew and provides volume to food without adding a lot of calories. Soluble fiber helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, and can help ward off hunger and cravings.
7. Moderate starch Be mindful and moderate with the amount of starchy carbohydrate you serve your kids at each meal. Carb-heavy meals tend to be calorie-heavy meals. Try not to base an entire meal around noodles, rice or bread.
8. Serve vegetables 24/7 Try to have vegetables available round the clock. They're low-calorie and nutrient dens. Have kid-friendly veggies washed, chopped and ready to eat.
9. Discourage liquid calories Liquid calories are digested much more quickly than solid calories ' thus, sugary beverages will provide your kids with a lot of extra calories without filling them up. If your kids drink them, it's likely they'll eat just as much food as they would have eaten without the extra calories. Instead, encourage LOTS of water!
10. Encourage daily exercise Get you kids moving and keep them moving ' aim for an hour each day. Limit the TV and video games and encourage after-school sports, bike riding, long walks, jumping rope, hide and seek, rock hunting รข€¦ anything goes.

Our Objectives.
Firstly a complete return to the practice of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon Him), according to understanding of the (the pious Predecessors).
Secondly to purify everything related to the life of the Muslim against Shirk (associating partners with Allah)
in its various forms and to warn against bid’ah in this complete Deen of ours.
Thirdly to educate and cultivate our community in there true Deen; and to call them to act according to its rulings, cultivate within ourselves the morals and noble manners of Islam.
Fourthly to try and find practical Islamic solutions for our everyday problems, by working with the statement of Allah {Ask those who know if you don’t know}, and they are the people of knowledge (i.e. the Ulema of our time and the books of the Ulema of the past).
Also working with the statement of Allah {Hold fast all together to the rope of Allah and be not divided amongst yourselves.} Al Imran: 103
And Allah also says {if you differ in anything then return it back to Allah and his Messenger if you truly believe in Allah and the last day.}
Finally to invite the non Muslims to this blessed way of life, Inshallah (by the permission of Allah)
This is our call and we call upon all Muslims to assist us in shouldering this responsibility which will awaken and uplift them to spread this message of Islam to all corners of the world, but firstly here at home to our families, and then to our community at large; Inshallah.
